Valmorel 1400m: Just before Moutiers and so a good choice for self-drive and Eurostar clients, Valmorel is excellent for adult and child beginners, and intermediate skiers on a budget. Purpose-built but in a low level, alpine style, it combines village charm with doorstep skiing and links to other villages in the circuit. Unusually, adult and child beginners benefit from enclosed nursery slopes, away from other skiers and boarders. Places in the excellent nursery, now managed by the ESF, are highly sought after. Non-skiing: mountain walks, cinema, discos, pub, heli-skiing and parapenting.
